Introductory Inkle Loom Weaving class in April.
Inkle looms have a simple, two-shed arrangement that produces an over and under tabby weave. Inkle loom type weaving has been around for several centuries, although the modern inkle loom was developed between the 18th and 19th century and imported to the United States in the 1930s from England. The word inkle is Old English for a narrow strip, often used as a drawstring or belt. The inkles, or strips, are also used to decorate clothing, as bag handles and headbands, or sewn together to create bags and clothing. |
